Enjoying the great outdoors has always been a favorite pass-time, and these days there are even more ways to do it.
From tailgating and boating to traditional camping and glamour camping (glamping) or overlanding to a secluded spot off road with a view, there’s something for everybody to unplug and recharge.

From having fun and staying safe, to cooking your favorite hot meals with the latest rechargeable battery tech, today we’ll share some essentials you won’t want to go without!
It’s always better to be safe than sorry, and with a few basics you can be prepared.
1. First Aid
You never want a minor cut or burn to ruin an experience so we encourage always having one in your vehicle or nearby. Our favorites are from REI (rei.com) their website has several first aid kits to choose from, from $9.95 - $69, so you can grab what’s best for your plans. The American Red Cross also has multiple options and MyMedic.com boasts “best first -aid kit on the planet”.
Many of us like to camp off the beaten path, and while the experience is more exclusive, it also means you’re farther from help if needed.

2. Off-Road Essentials
ARB 4x4 Accessories offers an E-Z Deflator and speedy seal tire repair kit, so you can air down to maintain traction over tough terrain and even do a quick patch job if needed. GSPSCN portable compressor will also fill your tires fast and is an affordable option that won’t take up all your storage space. We also recommend a battery jumper - in case your car battery dies. There are dozens of options - and we found this highly rated option that is priced really competitively at $60.00.
3. For fun
Now that you have the basics covered, on to what’s most important- the fun, food & drink you’ll enjoy at your tailgate, out on the boat or at that super sweet spot with a view. For fun, bring your favorite yard game and some cards. You’ll also want to keep your food and drinks cold, so make sure to invest in a great cooler.
RTIC & YETI have some of the best reviews and RTIC will be a little easier on your wallet while keeping things cold. Igloo also offers a recycled plastic version that is under $100.00
4. Cooking & Making Coffee
My favorite part, is enjoying hot meals and drinks at the game, anchored up at the sand bar, or overlooking that awesome sunset. Being able to cook outdoors, even where there’s fire danger is an unmatched experience, and I couldn’t do it without my cooking stove and generator by Lectric Boil. lectricboil.com offers the world’s first portable, battery powered cooking stove, including swap-able batteries and the ability to recharge with solar or any outlet.
You can cook your favorite meals and boil water for your coffee fast with its two induction burners, and sleep easy knowing it’s a safer alternative to cooking with an open flame. Plus, you don’t have to deal with the waste from canisters like with traditional camping stoves, or the cost to keep buying them.
5. Extra Socks
I always bring extra socks when camping or overlanding because dry, clean feet make all the difference. Wet or dirty socks can lead to blisters, discomfort, and even infections, especially on long hikes. Plus, changing into fresh socks at night feels like a small luxury in the wild. I prefer sustainable, breathable options like Farm to Feet, which uses U.S.-sourced merino wool, Darn Tough, known for its durable, moisture-wicking socks with a lifetime guarantee, and Smartwool, which blends performance with eco-friendly materials. For added protection, Insect Shield socks repel ticks and mosquitoes—perfect for staying bite-free on the trail.
Thanks for being alongside us for the ride!
